Pongal


  



Pongal is a popular dish in TamilNadu other south indian states, and . Pongal is unique to Tamil cusine
 Recipe   
Ingredients ( For 4 Persons )

Rice - 1 cup (Nearly 200 grams)

Moong Dal - 1/2 cup ( Nearly 100 grams)

Jeera - 1 tablespoon

Salt - to taste

Hing-1/2 teaspoon

For Seasoning 

Ghee - 50gms

Cashewnuts - 10 pcs.

 Pepper - 1 tablespoon

Jeera - 1 tablespoon

Ginger - 1/2 inch. pc.

Method

Put rice and moong dal together in a pan and fry for few minutes. After some time colour of the moong dal will turn to light brown till then keep frying.Put the rice and dal together in a bowl and wash it afterwards pour 5 glasses of water,salt to taste, one teaspoon of jeera and 1/2 teaspoon of hing.Once done put this bowl into pressure cooker ,close the lid and boil it upto 5 whistles.Keep it sim for 5 minutes  


Seasoning
 Add 50gms of ghee in a frying pan,add pepper cashew nuts,ginger,jeera and curry leaves fry it until cashew nuts turn golder brown mix the seasoning with Rice & Dal and stir it well

Your Dish Is Ready,Add one teaspoon of ghee(Optional)
